Built for how RFIs actually move

Manual RFI tracking through email and spreadsheets creates blind spots that slow approvals and put schedules at risk. Bluebeam makes it easy to:

  • Create RFIs directly on the PDF sheet where the question came up
  • Attach snapshots, photos and markups so reviewers see exact context
  • Route to the right assignee with a due date and status
  • Give field and office the same live view on any device
  • Keep a complete, exportable RFI history for owners, GCs and subs

Track every open RFI in one place

Ask on the sheet. Get an answer with the drawing still attached. Bluebeam keeps every RFI tied to the revision it was raised against, so the answer never gets applied to the wrong version.

  • See status, assignee and due date for every RFI at a glance
  • Filter and sort by discipline, sheet, phase or reviewer
  • Flag overdue RFIs before they turn into schedule impacts
  • Generate PDF, CSV or XML RFI logs on demand
  • Keep RFI records tied to the drawing revision they were raised against

Get real-time answers from anywhere

Open the sheet together. Resolve it together. Bluebeam lets multiple reviewers mark up the same RFI at the same time, so the answer takes one session instead of one week.

  • Invite architects, engineers, GCs and subs into one live session
  • Mark up and respond to RFIs simultaneously, no version conflicts
  • Raise RFIs from the jobsite on any device
  • See responses land in real time instead of waiting on replies
  • Capture every comment in a permanent, searchable record
  • Close RFIs out with a defensible audit trail for claims and closeout

“We marked up the issues, proposed corrections and resolved it as a team right in Bluebeam. It usually takes two quick revision rounds, then we release the new drawing. Because Bluebeam is live, it’s fast — we don’t lose time.”

How-To

How to manage construction RFIs with Bluebeam

Bluebeam gives teams a repeatable way to raise, route and close RFIs. Here’s how to start.

1. Create the RFI on the drawing

Create the RFI on the drawing
Open the sheet in Revu and use Edit > Snapshot to capture the area in question. Paste it into your RFI form, or build a reusable template through Tools > Form using Automatically Create Form Fields. Add clouds and callouts so the reviewer sees exactly what you’re asking about.

2. Track status and ownership

Every RFI markup appears in the Markups List, where you can add columns for assignee, due date and status. Sort and filter to see what’s open, what’s overdue and who owes an answer. Apply custom stamps to update status across documents at once.

3. Collaborate live and close out

Start a Studio Session and invite the architect, engineer, GC or subs to review and respond in real time. When the RFI is resolved, export the full log from the Markups List as a PDF, CSV or XML record for the project file.
