GDPR Compliance

What is GDPR?

The Global Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR) was instituted by the European Union, and it aims to harmonize rules and boost data protection and security for European Union (EU) citizens. At its core, the law allows EU citizens to have control over their personal data. GDPR applies to the use of data of EU citizens, regardless of whether or not the entity using the data is a member of the EU, and as such it is expected to have a huge impact on how data is collected, processed, used and shared globally.

The deadline to comply with this law is May 25, 2018.

Is Bluebeam GDPR compliant?

Over the last few months, we have been taking the necessary steps to become compliant with GDPR by the deadline. At Bluebeam, full compliance with this regulation is important to us. We will continue to be a trusted partner for our customers and resellers around the world.

What work has Bluebeam done to become compliant with GDPR?

We have taken the following critical steps to become compliant, including:

  • Updated the internal and external policies and procedures, including the Bluebeam Privacy Policy, Revu EULA and Studio Terms of Use. The Privacy Policy was updated in order to (1) clarify the way we collect and use data, (2) further explain how we use cookies and other tracking technologies, (3) clarify how we share data with our authorized partners and third-party providers and (4) clearly communicate how you can access, update and opt-out of the collection and use of your data.
  • Changed the way the Revu EULA and Studio Terms of Use are accepted to ensure that all new and existing users are both aware of and explicitly agree to all applicable terms of use.
  • Audited all third-party services that assist Bluebeam with our products and services to ensure they are also compliant and have the necessary privacy and security controls in place.
  • Applied to join the EU-US and Swiss-US Privacy Shield program, a framework developed by the European Commission and US Department of Commerce that provides companies with a mechanism to comply with GDPR when transferring personal data from the EU and Switzerland to the US.
  • Updated internal controls for the management of personal data

How does this impact me as a customer of Bluebeam?

By working with Bluebeam solutions, rest assured that your user data, as well as additional user data you may be managing through Revu and Studio, is meeting global data privacy requirements. All of the changes discussed above ensure that regardless of the location of your data, Bluebeam is meeting the necessary requirements for full compliance.
