The Global Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR) was instituted by the European Union, and it aims to harmonize rules and boost data protection and security for European Union (EU) citizens. At its core, the law allows EU citizens to have control over their personal data. GDPR applies to the use of data of EU citizens, regardless of whether or not the entity using the data is a member of the EU, and as such it is expected to have a huge impact on how data is collected, processed, used and shared globally.
The deadline to comply with this law is May 25, 2018.
