Alliance Spacesystems
Challenge
Working with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratories (NASA JPL), Alliance Spacesystems Inc. (ASI) was tasked with designing and
producing two identical robotic arms for NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover mission. The rovers would be deployed in January of 2004.
ASI had a tight timeframe in which to accomplish its mission. ASI needed a PDF solution which not only created accurate PDF
files from 3-D modeling software, but one that created files that were small enough to quickly send out to other project teams
Solution
ASI used Bluebeam Pushbutton PDF to send complex drawings to its customer, NASA JPL, and its subcontractors for review. As a
plugin to SolidWorks, ASI engineers were assured that the PDF drawings they created matched the exact specifications of their
SolidWorks drawings. The small file size of Bluebeam PDFs enabled the ASI engineers to quickly e-mail their PDFs to all parties
involved resulting in faster decision making. Using Bluebeam Pushbutton PDF, ASI saved:
- $4,800 in shipping costs
- 1000 hours of transport time
- 25 hours administrative time
- 1500 sheets of paper
