How do I customize my toolbars within Revu?

I recently read a thread on our Community Forums asking if it was possible to add a feature icon or shortcut key in Revu for quick access. Bluebeam includes a long list of keyboard shortcuts that you can learn and use. You also have the ability to create a custom toolbar in the Revu interface displaying all the icons for features you use often. This inquiry made me realize that there are probably more users out there who would really benefit from the new customizable toolbars available in Revu 8.

Let’s say you deal with a lot of scanned documents and you need a quick and easy way to access the Get Line (Deskew) function. Deskew is the process of removing skew from images, especially bitmaps which are created during the scanning process. Usually you access this feature by going to Document > Page Setup, and then selecting Get Line.

An alternative to this is to simply memorize the shortcut key. In this case, the shortcut for Deskew is Ctrl+Alt+D. We have a full list of keyboard shortcuts available on the Revu Start Page.

Shortcut keys are fantastic because they save you a lot of time. However, for tablet users that want quick access to certain features, or users who just want to streamline their interface to only display the icons that they always use, customizing your toolbars is a great feature for maximizing your workflow. You may even find a feature you never knew about, such as hatch patterns and hide all markups, by scrolling through the list of available icons.

To start, simply open Revu, right-click on the toolbar and then select Customize.

Select the toolbar you wish to edit from the Categories dropdown menu or click the button to add a new toolbar to the list.

For example, if you want Deskew to be displayed, select the Document toolbar, then select the Deskew icon from the Commands field. Finally, click the arrow to add it to the Items box. You can repeat this process with as many toolbar Categories as you like. When finished, select OK and you will see the new toolbar appear in your Revu interface.

You also have the ability to lock your toolbars to prevent yourself from clicking on them and accidentally dragging them around the interface. To do this, right-click on the toolbar and then select Lock. Your toolbars will now be locked in place.
