Moving your Bluebeam License to a New Computer

Now that Windows 7 is available, many of our users may be either upgrading their existing computers or purchasing a new computer with this latest version of Windows already pre-installed. First, it’s important to know that compatibility testing of Bluebeam PDF Revu 7.2.1 with the beta version of Windows 7 was successful, and we are now in the final stages of testing Bluebeam PDF Revu 7.2.1 with the official version of Windows 7. But, regardless of whether you plan to upgrade your computer to reflect the release of Windows 7 or not, the question of "How do I move my license of Bluebeam to a new computer?" is one we are frequently asked.

Moving your License

Your Bluebeam license can be easily transferred from the current computer that Bluebeam is installed on to a new computer, or an additional license can be purchased if you want to continue running Bluebeam on both computers.

If you want to purchase an additional license, purchasing information is available online.

To move your license of Bluebeam to a new computer, simply follow the steps outlined below.
  1. License Certificate

  2. The License Certificate that was emailed to you when you first purchased Bluebeam contains important information that you will need in order to move your license to your new computer:

    • Bluebeam product name
    • Download Link where you can download the correct installation file
    • Serial Number
    • Product Key

If you cannot find the email with your License Certificate, you can request that your License Certificate be resent to you:

    • Open Bluebeam PDF Revu
    • From the Help menu, click on About Bluebeam PDF Revu
    • You will need to obtain both the Version and Serial Number that is listed in the top portion of the window.
    • Send an email to registration@bluebeam.com and request that a new copy of the License Certificate be emailed to you. Please include the Serial Number, your name, company name, email address and phone number in the email.

  3. Uninstalling Bluebeam

  4. In order to release your license of Bluebeam from your current computer you must be connected to the Internet. This is because a message is sent from your current computer to the Bluebeam license server during the uninstall.

To uninstall Bluebeam from Windows Vista

    • Click Start and then Control Panel.
    • Click Uninstall a program or Programs and Features.
    • Select "Bluebeam PDF Revu" from the list and then click Uninstall.
    • Click Remove and Next to complete the uninstall.

To uninstall Bluebeam from Windows XP and 2000

    • Click Start and then Control Panel.
    • Click Add or Remove Programs.
    • Select "Bluebeam PDF Revu" in the list.
    • Click Change/Remove and complete the uninstall.

  5. Re-Installing Bluebeam

  6. Your version of Bluebeam and the download link to the installation file are both included on your License Certificate.

    • Click the Download Link on the License Certificate. This will take you to the download page for Bluebeam.
    • Click the version of Bluebeam that is listed on your license certificate. Only click “64-bit” if you know that you are running 64-bit Windows. Double check your version of Windows if you are not sure.
    • Click Save or Save File to save the download to the Windows Desktop.
    • Click Run or double click on the installation after the download is complete to start the installation.
    • Copy and paste the Serial Number and Product Key into the Bluebeam Registration window when it displays. Then click Register.
    • Click Finish to complete the installation.
And don’t forget, you can install and run Bluebeam as a 30-day trial without completing the registration. Installing a free trial of our software on your new computer will get you up and running with Bluebeam immediately if you need time to resolve any registration questions. Click the “Use as Trial” button during registration to skip the registration process and allow the installation to complete, or visit the downloads page.
