Working with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratories (NASA JPL), Alliance Spacesystems Inc. (ASI) was tasked with designing and producing two identical robotic arms for NASA's Mars Exploration Rover mission. The rovers would be deployed in January of 2004. ASI had a tight timeframe in which to accomplish its mission. ASI needed a PDF solution which not only created accurate PDF files from 3-D modeling software, but one that created files that were small enough to quickly send out to other project teams.
ASI used Bluebeam Revu to send complex drawings to its customer, NASA JPL, and its subcontractors for review. As a plugin to SolidWorks, ASI engineers were assured that the PDF drawings they created matched the exact specifications of their SolidWorks drawings.
