How do I move my Revu settings to a new computer?

So, you bought a new computer after you found a great deal on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. And now, you want to move Revu, along with all of the custom settings you have created, over to your new machine. The following will help you transfer your current settings and license of Revu as quickly as possible.

The Bluebeam Administrator is the key to collecting all of the files that you need to copy over to your new computer. Use Backup Settings to create a zip file that contains all of the Revu configuration files, including Profiles, Revu settings layout, PDF Templates, all of the tools in your Tool Chest and Hatch Patterns. These may be all of the files that you need, however other files can be accessed by using the shortcuts in the Net Config tab.

Revu Settings

On the current computer:

  • Close Revu, if it is opened.
  • Open the Bluebeam Administrator; click Start, All Programs, Bluebeam Software, then Bluebeam Administrator.
  • Click the Revu tab.
  • Click the Backup Settings button.
  • Save the file to the Desktop.
  • Copy the file to the Desktop of the new computer.

Once you've installed Revu on the new computer:

  • Close Revu, if it is opened.
  • Open the Bluebeam Administrator; click Start, All Programs, Bluebeam Software, then Bluebeam Administrator.
  • Click the Revu tab.
  • Click the Restore Settings button.
  • Open the file from the old computer.

Stamps

  • Open the Bluebeam Administrator.
  • Click the Net Config tab.
  • Double-click on the path next to Text Stamps (in the path name, not the button).
  • The Stamps folder will open.
  • Copy the files for your custom stamps to the same location on the new computer.

Advanced Settings

You only need to complete these steps if you have configured these options in Revu or the plugins.

Custom Page Sizes for the Bluebeam Printer and plugins

  • Open the Bluebeam Administrator.
  • Click the Net Config tab.
  • Double-click on the path next to Printer Driver.
  • Copy the file prtPages.xml to the same location on the new computer.

Custom Page Setups for the plugins
  • Open the Bluebeam Administrator.
  • Click the Net Config tab.
  • Double-click on the path next to Global Page Setup.
  • Copy the files *.plugin.xml to the same location on the new computer.

E-mail Templates
  • Open the Bluebeam Administrator.
  • Click the Net Config tab.
  • Double-click on the path next to E-mail Templates.
  • Copy all the files in the folder to the same location on the new computer.

License

You will also need to transfer your Bluebeam license.

  • Serial Number and Product Key: You received an email containing the Bluebeam License Certificate when you purchased Revu. The serial number and product key are in that email. If you don't have the serial number and product key:
    • Open the Bluebeam Administrator.
    • On the Help menu, click About Administrator.
    • The 3-digit version number and the serial number will be in the upper left.
    • Send an email with your name and the serial number to support@bluebeam.com and ask us to send you another copy of the License Certificate.
  • Release the license.
    • Open the Bluebeam Administrator.
    • On the Tools menu, click Unregister. You must be connected to the internet to release the license.
  • Download the Bluebeam installation file http://www.bluebeam.com/updates/. Make sure to download the correct version.
